Who's
I'm Jimmy Defains, a developer based in France, and I build BuildQR on my own. The idea came from a friend who manages building sites.
Where it came from
A friend of mine, a site manager on housing projects, was tired of being asked for the drawings. The idea was a QR code on the doors, so anyone could scan it and open the drawing instead of asking for it.
I started building it in June 2024. BuildQR has been online since September 2026.
What it became
The principle hasn't changed: a QR code on site, your documents behind it. Whoever scans it opens the latest version you uploaded, with no app and no account. When a drawing changes, you replace the file and the label stays where it is.
For those who need them, other QR codes keep time-stamped, exportable records: site sign-in, permits to work, delivery receipts, site inductions, logbooks.
One rule: never promise anything that isn't shipped
This site only talks about what exists in the product today. What isn't there yet isn't announced, and no gain is put in numbers until it has been measured.
BuildQR is young: you won't find customer logos or testimonials here. I'll only publish real ones.
One person: will it last?
It's the right question. Nobody can guarantee ten years, whether it's a large vendor or one person. Here is what it rests on.
It doesn't need to grow to survive. No salaries, no offices, no investors to repay. I designed the architecture so that hosting costs only rise with the number of customers, and each subscription brings in more than it costs. From a handful of customers, it pays for itself.
It wasn't thrown together over a weekend. It took more than two years of work. AI helps me write the code, but the architecture and the technical decisions are mine, and more than 2,600 automated tests watch what must not break. I want to make a living from it, so I have no intention of abandoning it.
Your data isn't locked in. Your files are stored with AWS in Paris, and the database is backed up every day, separately. You upload copies, your originals stay with you, and every file can be downloaded again at any time. Your records export to PDF or CSV on every plan.
And if it ever had to stop? I would tell you at least three months in advance, so you have time to get everything out.
Who answers you
I designed and built it on my own. So I'm the one who reads your messages, and the one who fixes things when something goes wrong.
If it could help on your sites, or if you think it's useless, write to me: contact@buildqr.app.
The same tool exists in French as OuvrageQR. The publisher's details are in the legal notice.
