A signature is not a record of attendance
The sheet does its job on an ordinary day. The day it actually matters — an evacuation, an incident, a dispute over hours — it is asked to prove something it was never able to prove.
Anyone can sign for anyone
A name in a column proves that someone wrote a name in a column. Nothing ties it to a person who was actually standing on the site.
The sheet lives in a site hut
It gets rained on, walked off with, or filled in from memory on Friday. When you need it — after an incident — it is rarely complete.
It says nothing about where
A signature carries no location. Two sites running at once, and the same sheet could have been signed at either of them.
The same register, but it fills itself in
You display a QR code at the site entrance. People scan it as they arrive and as they leave — from their own phone, with nothing to install.
Checked in at the gate, not from the van
The scan only counts if the phone is actually within the site perimeter. The check happens on our servers, so the entry cannot be faked from the sofa — and the exact centre of your site is never sent to the phone.

Do I have to keep a record of who is on site?
Requirements differ from one country and one contract to the next, so check what applies to you. What is near-universal in practice: the principal contractor is expected to know who is on site at any moment — for evacuation above all, and then for access control, hours worked and insurance. A sign-in sheet is the simplest way to hold that record, which is why almost every site keeps one whether or not a specific rule names it.
What should a site attendance sheet contain?
At a minimum: the date, the site, and for each person their name, the time they arrived, the time they left, and a signature. Add a “Company” column as soon as subcontractors are involved — without it, the sheet tells you fifteen people were on site but not who they worked for. Our generator turns that column on by default and lets you switch it off.
Can I print several sheets at once?
Yes, and it is the point of the tool. Choose 5, 10 or 20 sheets and you get a single PDF. If you set a start date, each sheet carries the next working day — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday — with Saturdays and Sundays skipped unless you say otherwise. If you leave the date blank, you get a stack of identical blank sheets to fill in by hand.
Does the generator store what I type?
No. The PDF is produced directly in your browser: your company name, site name and address are never sent to us, no email is asked for, and nothing is kept. We only measure use of the generator, anonymously and without cookies — how many sheets are produced and which options are chosen, never your entries. On this tool we do not even offer to collect your form afterwards: there is nothing in it we would learn from.
What does the QR code version add?
A paper sheet records what someone wrote down. A QR code check-in records that a phone was physically at the site when it scanned: the position is validated by our servers and the entry is time-stamped. Nobody fills in Monday on Friday afternoon, and the register builds itself as people arrive.
What does the QR code check-in cost?
The PDF generator is free and needs no account at all. The QR code check-in itself is available on the free plan — including the server-side position check, which we do not treat as a premium feature: a check-in that can be faked from anywhere is not worth recording.
